Help me make a list

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 27, 2008, 1:03 PM
Memoirs of an armchair vigilante

of every type of equine based mythological creature you can think of. So far, off the top of my head, I have...

Alicorn/pegacorn (can someone find the real name of this thing? Does it HAVE a real name?)
buraq
Centaur
Epona
Faun/satyr (not a horse, but fine)
Hippalektryon
HIPPOI ATHANATIOI [link]
Hippoi Kabeirikoi
Hypocampus
Hypogryph
hurrocks
Ichthyocentaurs
kelpie/Pookah (basically same idea, just different levels of uh.. violence)
Mezu Rasetsu
näkki
nightmare
Pegasus
pixiehorse
Sleipnir
Trojan Horse
Uchaishravas
Unicorn
Karkadann
Kirin/qui lin
Widow-Maker
Zuess' horses/poseidon's horses (pulls chariots of the gods)

That's all I can think of, and I KNOW there are more. They don't have to be primarily equine? Just have... equine parts.

Thanks for the input!!

Show a little love to these artists dammit.

Most gods throw dice, but Fate plays chess, and you don't find out til too late that he's been playing with two queens all along.

"Alicorn" isn't technically correct, either: [link] I just had this same conversation with someone else this week - lol! Maybe "pegicorn" needs to be coined?

All I cold think of was Nightmare and Ki-Rin, but it looks like someone already beat me to it. A Phooka can appear as a horse, but also as other animals: [link]

Good luck!

yes but alicorn is the term that people *recognize*, which is why I use it. *shrugs*

Isn't a phooka and a kelpie the same thing? *brain kind of dies here*

Erm, I don't know if this counts because I think they only came up in Harry Potter, but will thestrals work?
I'm not sure whether J.K Rowling completely thought them up, or just put them in the story like dragons/hypogryphs/Basilisks and others.
